During the site selection process, preference should be given to
locations with multiple access opportunities. Preference should be
given to a site located within ¼ mile of public transportation,
restaurants, retail or other service facilities. Locations with a
potential for shared parking lots and other transportation oriented
infrastructure should also be shown preference.
Opportunity can also be found with the existence or potential for
safe bicycle pathways that facilitate access to the site. The
potential for pedestrian circulation within the development should
also be factored in to site selection analysis. As always, the
requirements of the end user should be considered with regard to
these sustainable goals. The transportation needs of a future
commissary will be vastly different from an administrative campus.
